Description

The impact of climate on the yield, crop distribution and quality of tea is immense. Climate Change has brought about several challenges to the tea industry. Some of such challenges felt by the industry are in the field of soil and water management, arising from increased periods of drought, shorter rainy spells, increased temperature and increased pest pressure. Unless proper mitigation and adaptation strategies are put in place, tea plantations would continue to suffer, threatening their sustainability. This bulletin aims to put forward a few recommendations that will help tea plantations tackle these challenges and sustain productivity. I hope the bulletin proves to be beneficial to the industry.
